Course details
Are you a young runner or simply interested in competing with peers in the U23 category? The YTR is a race for young athletes that takes young trail runners on an exciting journey through the Tyrolean mountains. On a varied route, participants experience the fascination of trail running – from diverse trails to impressive views of Innsbruck.
The Young Talents Race brings a breath of fresh air to the IATF weekend and offers young trail runners aged 12 to 22 the perfect opportunity to prove themselves on the trails. This route combines challenge with fun and is an exciting experience for both beginners and experienced young athletes.
The start and finish are at the Landestheater, from where the trail heads directly towards the Alpine Zoo. The first few meters are fairly relaxed, but soon the steep climb up Wilhelm-Greil-Weg awaits. Here, it is important to pace yourself wisely, as the route climbs steadily until just below the Hungerburg. Once you reach the top, it’s worth taking a moment to catch your breath – the view of Innsbruck is impressive.
But you can’t linger for long, because now the most exciting section begins: the Knappensteig trail demands full concentration and a good feel for the ground with its varied and flowing downhill sections. Technically challenging but lots of fun, it takes runners back down into the valley.
