Region Innsbruck

Urban pulse – Alpine tranquility.
A vibrant, cosmopolitan city surrounded by majestic mountain scenery – that’s the Innsbruck region. Nowhere else are urban flair and alpine charm so close together, nowhere else can culture and nature, concerts and summit victories, historical discoveries and sporting mountain tours be so easily combined as here. In addition to the Tyrolean capital, 40 towns in six adventure regions offer everything a vacationer’s heart desires.

Mayor of Innsbruck, capital of Tyrol

Ing. Mag. Johannes Anzengruber, BSc

“The Innsbruck Alpine Trail Run Festival will take place for the 10th time in 2025 – a reason to celebrate and a sign that it has long since secured a firm place in the sporting calendar of Innsbruck and many running enthusiasts.

Trail running has increasingly become a trend sport that inspires young and old, professionals and amateur athletes alike. No wonder – trail running combines athletic challenge and nature experience in a unique way, and nowhere is this more beautiful than here in the Alps: the mountains guarantee challenging and varied running routes with spectacular views.

To mark its 10th anniversary, Laufwerkstatt, the organizer of this kick-off event for the trail running season, has come up with some great ideas – both for the trails and the supporting program. A festival atmosphere is therefore guaranteed!”

“Concentration, endurance, sensitivity, hard training, and much more are required for trail running—an enormously versatile discipline that rightly captivates sports enthusiasts. The Innsbruck Alpine Trailrun Festival brings together the best of the best in the trail running scene to compete on spectacular routes around the Alpine metropolis. Once again, Tyrol and its capital city prove that they are the ultimate mecca for hosting top-class sporting events. Not only the unique mountain landscape, but also the hospitality of the Tyroleans have gained renown beyond the borders of Tyrol. I would therefore like to express my sincere thanks for the organization of this great event and wish all athletes and fans an exciting and successful competition!”

“Tyrol offers the best conditions for hosting such a high-profile sporting event as the Innsbruck Alpine Trail Run Festival – because in addition to the sporting challenge, participants can expect a varied trail with a colorful mix of city and mountains: starting from Innsbruck’s old town, runners make their way up into the mountains via varied field and hiking trails. This showcases both urban and alpine images of the provincial capital to the world, which makes me very proud as the provincial minister of tourism. The many overnight stays by athletes and their families and friends during the festival also contribute significantly to tourism revenue in Innsbruck. A big thank you goes to the organizing team and the many hard-working hands that make this event possible. I wish all participants all the best and an accident-free run.”

“We are delighted to welcome the trail running community back to Innsbruck for the Alpine Trail Run Festival. The event has become a fixture in the running calendar, and with good reason: our region’s alpine-urban character makes it the ideal venue for competitions in this literally nature-oriented trend sport. We have fantastic routes that range from the historic old town of Innsbruck to stunning mountain worlds such as the Nordkette or the Kalkkögel. This unique combination of city and nature makes our region a very special place for runners. In addition, Innsbruck offers the perfect infrastructure for such an event with its variety of bars, restaurants, and accommodations. Together with various side events and an expo, this guarantees that participants, accompanying persons, and guests of the IATF will feel at home here. I wish the athletes all the best and hope that they can really enjoy our unique trails between urban flair and alpine panorama.”

“As one of the host communities for this festival, we are proud that such a sporting event with an impressive number of participants is organizing the start of runs within our own community boundaries. As a trained tourism professional, I can confirm that our region is ideally suited for such a varied and sustainable event, with its unique and unspoiled natural surroundings providing the backdrop. A particularly noteworthy feature of the Innsbruck Alpine Trailrun Festival is that participants can choose their own route with different lengths and profiles. I would like to express my sincere thanks to the organizers and wish the participants every success, fun, and stamina for the race.”

Mayor of the City of Hall

Dr. Christian Margreiter

“When participants from all over the world lace up their running shoes at the adidas Innsbruck Alpine Trailrun Festival in early May, young and old alike can look forward to an incomparable Alpine panorama paired with the flair of the cities of Innsbruck and Hall in Tirol. Starting from the provincial capital, the athletes will also explore parts of the Hall-Wattens region and the city of Hall at a running pace. I am delighted that we can play our part in this great event to make this festival an unforgettable experience for everyone.

The adidas Innsbruck Alpine Trailrun Festival has been a well-organized running event for many years. I am particularly impressed by the fact that amateur and professional athletes alike compete and indulge their passion here on routes of varying difficulty and length. It’s great to see that mountain and trail running is becoming increasingly popular. When such beautiful and impressive routes await the starters, athletic achievements and panoramic views will make for perfect pictures and memories.

A big thank you to the organizing team and the many helpers for their commitment to the adidas Innsbruck Alpine Trailrun Festival. I wish all participants every success in achieving their athletic goals and hope that they also have the time and opportunity to enjoy the scenic beauty and hospitality.”
